Riddle me this…Batman?
Three men check into a hotel room. They were charged 30 dollars and each paid 10 dollars. When the night manager came on duty he found that the charge for the room should have only been 25 dollars. He gave 5 dollars (in ones) to the bell man and told him to return the change to the 3 men in the room. The Bell Man got to the room and realized that he could not divide the 5 dollars into three equal amounts so he gave each man 1 dollar and put the other 2 dollars into his pocket. Now concentrate. Each man paid 10 dollars but was given 1 dollar back, so now each man has paid 9 dollars. 3 x 9 = 27. The Bell Man has 2 dollars in his pocket. 27 + 2 = 29. What happened to the other dollar?
$9 x 3 = $27, while accurate math, isn’t relevant to the question. The 3 men gave the hotel $30. The hotel gave five to the bellboy, who kept $2 and gave the men $3. So, the hotel had $25, the bellboy had $2 and each of the 3 men got back $1 or a total of $3 to the men so: $25 (hotel) + $2(bellboy) + $3(men) = $30.
