Batman Novels

What are good stand alone Batman graphic novels? Also, what comics can you reccomend for a new comic reader?
I’m a 29 year old woman who is interested in getting a few graphic novels. I’m more of a fan of DC than Marvel. Thanks.
Frank Miller’s – The Dark Knight returns
Batman Year One
The Killing Joke
other non-batman important graphic novels:
Watchmen
Sandman collection
Maus
Cerebus (I suggest High Society)
Blankets
Bone
Palomar/Love and Rockets
Concrete
Jimmy Corrigan
As far as comics, have you tried these?
Paul Dini is doing great work on Detective comics
Ed Brubaker’s daredevil
Greg Pak has hulk very angry now
anything written by Bendis, Warren Ellis or Mike Carey is interesting now
Peter David is having fun with XFactor
Goon!
Usagi Yojimbo
Walking Dead
Gemstones duck reprints
Bongo comics!
This is my own personal list of fun, I hope you get a chance to enjoy some of it.
