Were the original Batman movies made to be cheesy?
I was watching Batman: The Movie with Adam West and Burt Ward from 1966 and I was wondering if, at the time the movie was made, they were trying to make batman a bit over-dramatic and cheesy?
Batman has always been a dark gritty character. The makers of the 1966 Batman movie and the show that followed were trying to make him more accessible to kids, so they made the show campy.
